Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has said former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley is ready to make his Luton Town debut against Chelsea.
Barkley, 29, joined Luton this summer
on a free transfer from Nice. The Englishman spent four seasons at Chelsea
before his move to Ligue 1.
“He’s been training now with us for a
couple of weeks,” Edwards said.
“I’ve been delighted with him, so he’s
in the mix. I’ve been really impressed; he is a top player and he’s really
hungry.
“He’s got the bit between his teeth
and wants to show people as well.”
“He’s got nothing to prove, to me or
anyone,” Edwards added. “I can’t get in his head but I know he’s hungry and
wants to play football.
“I think
he’ll make a really big impact this season. He settled in right away and showed
real humility — his work rate has been top and his quality is there for all to
see.”
