Guinness World Records has recently announced that Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to set the record for the longest individual singing marathon fell short of success.
Despite continuously singing for 126 hours and 52 minutes, her attempt was officially deemed
unsuccessful.
“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon” part of their statement read.
The event at Akwaaba Village in Accra attracted a large audience,
including various showbiz personalities, creating a positive and supportive
atmosphere. Although the attempt did not secure the record, the resilience and
dedication exhibited by Asantewaa have inspired her fans, and the Guinness
World Records organization expressed hope for her future attempts.
Asantewaa’s mission to break the record initially garnered attention as
she sang for five consecutive days with notable figures like Nana Ama McBrown,
Kwabena Kwabena, and Efya in attendance. Despite the setback, the event was
marked by overwhelming positivity and encouragement from the audience,
showcasing the collective support for Asantewaa’s remarkable endeavor. The
Guinness World Records acknowledged the inspiration drawn by her fans and
refunded her payment while expressing best wishes for her future record-breaking
pursuits.
