Photos of the first cultist group that hit Nigerian educational institution so many years ago, the ‘Pyrates Confraternity’ has popped up on social media.

The group founded by Wole Soyinka is made up of 7 students namely, Wole Soyinka, Ikpehare Aig-Imoukhuede, Sylvanus Egbuche, Pius Oleghe, Nathaniel Oyelola, Muyiwa Awe, Ralph Okpara and Wole Soyinka who was referred to as the Capon Blood.

The group was also called the ‘Magnificient Seven’ and was formed in 1952 at the University College Ibadan.
It is alleged that all members of the cult group sworn an oath of allegiance which meant that they will rise to defend the interest of the group to their last breath regardless of the circumstances.
It is also believed that a lot of potentials were wasted because of cultism.
