The eligibility of the MP elect for the Assin North constituency
James Quayson has been challenged.
Marfo &
Associates have sued the accused James Quayson in court for not being eligible
to be a member of parliament in Ghana.
According to
the law suit, James Quayson is a Canadian and did not renounce his Canadian
citizenship when he stood for election to be voted into the parliament of
Ghana.
The constitution of Ghana
requires all public office holders to have a full Ghanaian citizenship status.
In must be remembered that in
the year 2012 the member of parliament of Bawku Central Adamu Dramina Sakande
was jailed for 2 years when he was found guilty of becoming a Ghanaian member
of parliament when he hadn’t renounced his UK citizenship.
A certain cattle dealer was the
one who sued the then Bawku Central MP Adamu Dramani Sakande.
