Many, given what was witnessed
yesterday of a much energised Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the wife of late
President Jerry John Rawlings; had expected to see her muscle up today when the
remains of the later was buried. At the final hour when casket of the late
statesman was lowered into the grave at the Military Cemetery in Accra, Nana
Konadu Agyemang Rawlings lost her strength and broke into tears.
Her body shoke as she gasp for
her breath behind her nose mask. Indeed it was a farewell, and there won’t be
Jerry John Rawlings any longer for her and the family.
Her gestures were observable and one could tell without any
inference that she still is in pain and morning her loss. This is a man with
whom, her greater part of her life has been shared.
It isn’t easy for her saying good bye at this moment of her
life. Old age had already caught up with her. She definitely would miss J.J
Rawlings, in her lone life as the children live outside the family.
In all these the prayers as said
at the burial ground is reassuring. It inspired hope, as Archbishop Duncan
William prayed for God’s protection for her and the rest of the family.
