Chelsea will go head-to-head against Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the final round of the 2020/21 Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
Aston Villa do not have anything left to play for this
season, as they are certain to finish 11th. They will be going into the Chelsea
game with full confidence coming off a 2-1 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday
evening.
Chelsea, who currently sit in 3rd place, will be looking to pick
up all three points in this encounter to secure Champions League football next
season.
With just a point behind Liverpool and Leicester who sit in 4th
and 5th position respectively on the log, the clash against Villa is a must win
game for the Blues if they want Champions League football next season.
If Chelsea ends up missing out on Champions League football
by failing to finish amongst the top four spot this season, then the Blues will
need to win their Champions league final clash against Manchester city on the
29th of this month.
The Blues are expected to field a very solid starting XI against
Aston Villa on Sunday.
N’golo Kante and Kai Havartz are the only doubtful players for
Chelsea ahead of Aston Villa’s clash. N’golo Kante was taken off in the early
stages of midweek’s clash against Leicester due to precautionary reasons, while
Kai Havertz picked up an injury in the warm up to that same game.
Edouard Mendy is expected to start in goal against Aston Villla
ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Thiago Silva is expected to sit this game out
ahead of next week’s Champions League final.
Kovacic is expected to partner Jorginho at the centre of the park due to the possible absence of Kante. Ben Chilwell and Reece James to be the starting full backs.
Here’s our expected Chelsea starting Xi to face
Aston Villa: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Jorginho,
Kovacic, Chilwell, Pulisic, Mount; Werner.
