As the 2020-2021 seasons drawn to an end with UEFA Super Cup Chelsea takes on Villareal today.
The preseason games are
over as new seasons kicks off. The 2020-2021 Champions League winners and the
Defenders of the Europa League face off today.
Chelsea who are favourites
to win the UEFA Super Cup after their 1-0 win at the Champions League final
against Manchester City to lift the trophy for the second time since 2012.
Both Chelsea and
Villarreal will travel to Belfast for the Super Cup in a few days.
The Blues, as the
Champions League winners, are the favourites to win, but Emery is rather
optimistic about his team’s chances.
These two sides have never
actually faced off, but we know that Villarreal aren’t going to be scared of
facing an English team after dispatching of both United and Arsenal in their
run to Europa League glory.
Similarly, Chelsea did
away with the best Spain had to offer last season, dumping both Real Madrid and
Atletico Madrid out of the Champions League, having already beaten Sevilla 4-0
in the group stage.
