The Blues have earned a considerable amount from the sales of academy graduates this summer and the right-back appears to be the latest to leave.
Chelsea are
reportedly set to lose yet another Cobham academy graduate this summer with
Tino Livramento set to join Premier League rivals Southampton.
According to
the Daily Mail, the Saints have won the race for
the Chelsea youngster after he has stalled on signing a new contract
at Stamford Bridge.
Livramento was reportedly being
eyed by a number of clubs in the Premier League including Manchester City,
Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as major players abroad such as
RB Leipzig, AC Milan and AS Monaco.
He appears to have chosen a
move to St Mary’s however, with it being suggested that a deal has been agreed
that will see Southampton pay Chelsea approximately £5million for the
18-year-old.
Talks regarding the move have
apparently moved quickly over the weekend and a transfer could well be
signed-off sooner rather than later.
Losing Livramento will
be a big blow to Chelsea with the defender having scooped the club’s Academy
Player of the Year award last season – form that was good enough for him to be
awarded a place on the bench against both Manchester City and Arsenal at the
back-end of the 2020/21 season.
Including the Livramento deal,
Chelsea will have scooped approximately £54million for the sales of academy
graduates throughout the window.
Centre-backs Fikayo Tomori and
Marc Guehi have departed for AC Milan and Crystal Palace respectively for lofty
fees, whilst the club have received somewhat smaller amounts for the likes of
Dynel Simeu, Lewis Bate, Myles Peart-Harris and Pierre Ekwah.
