Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has provided hope that he could be available for the Premier League clash against Leicester City.
The Belgian has been out of
action since the Champions League clash vs Malmo at the end of last month,
where he limped off in the first half with an ankle injury.
That problem has seen the
striker miss the last three Premier League games and a Carabao Cup tie against
Southampton.
Lukaku will stay at Chelsea
over the international break as he looks to step up his recovery before the
Blues travel to the King Power Stadium on Saturday, November 20.
On Tuesday, the 28-year-old
took to social media to give a hint to Chelsea fans over his progress.
He posted an emoji of a running
man alongside a clock and a battery, suggesting that a full recovery could come
soon.
In his latest update, Thomas
Tuchel said that the striker will be assessed over the international break.
“To give you any date now [for
Lukaku’s return], I would have to confirm. We also have the national break now
and we will be more clear after that,” he said ahead of the 1-1 draw vs
Burnley.
“We will use the time, of
course, and see what is going on in the second week of the national break.
“If you ask me the question
then I can be more precise than now. We have that break and we will use it. He
will have treatment every day.”
Fellow striker Timo Werner will
also be a doubt for the clash against City after missing the last three Premier
League games.
Midfielder Mason Mount has
pulled out of the England squad for the current international break due to
wisdom teeth problems.
Meanwhile, City midfielder
Youri Tielemans is a major doubt for the clash after pulling out of the Belgium
squad with a calf injury picked up in the closing stages of the 1-1 draw vs
Leeds United
