The Chelsea Academy product has been exceptional for Thomas Tuchel led team since the beginning of the season, and he has been able to guide his team to the top spot of the English Premier League table.
Despite the
fact that the youngster has been outstanding for the London-based club, he was
not invited to the Three Lions team, but he was called up to the nation’s under
21 team and he refused to honour the call.
Callum
Hudson-Odoi was born in England to Ghanaian parents and he is still eligible to
represent the Black stars of Ghana despite playing for the England youth teams.
The youngster
was expecting a call-up to the three Lions, but he was not invited and he
decided to turn down the under 21 call-up, and that has started generating
reactions from a lot of people.
Here are the three things
England national team head coach Gareth Southgate said about Chelsea’s Callum
Hudson-Odoi after turning down England call-up;
You have missed an opportunity
Gareth Southgate said the
youngster has missed an opportunity to prove to the world that he has what it
takes to represent the Three Lions.
He is young and talented
The coach also revealed that
the Chelsea winger is very young and he’s also talented, and he’s been able to
prove that in Thomas Tuchel’s team, but he still needs to prove himself in the
under 21 team before being given a consideration in the national team.
We are constantly watching him
Gareth Southgate concluded by
saying he and his crew are closely monitoring his development, and he will only
get a chance to represent the Three Lions of England if he continues to prove
himself at Chelsea FC.
