Saul Niguez has spoken for the second time since his loan switch to Chelsea this summer, the first being his post signing statement.
He
joined the Blues on a season-long loan deal on Deadline Day, which also
includes an option to buy the Spaniard on a permanent basis next summer for £30
million.
The
26-year-old came to add to the midfield army and give Thomas Tuchel more depth
and competition to select from, alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho
and Mateo Kovacic.
Saul expressed his excitement immediately when signing for the
Blues. But after completing his last-minute switch to Chelsea, the midfield
maestro seems to be regretting the move according to sources, with the player
struggling for game time.
Saul
has been subjected to just Two premier league appearances and as many FA Cup
games, with the player formerly and a consistent performer under Simeone’s
Atletico Madrid.
A move to Chelsea would have been seen as a welcome boost to his
career as he was Expected to play a key role alongside the likes of Jorginho
and Kante, but what was expected isn’t what is being seen.
According
to an inside source, Saul is very unhappy with the current situation, which is
very logical. Why bring a player on loan from a top club like Atletico Madrid
only to leave him on bench consistently.
He was even rumoured to have a showdown with Thomas Tuchel in
the dressing room recently, where he made his feeling know to the coach. With
the player reportedly telling Tuchel, “You brought me here on loan to Bench me.
Pathetic”.
Of
course this will not sit well with the German coach, little wonder there are
already reports making waves that Chelsea will not trigger his £30m buy option.
However, whatever the case may be, Thomas Tuchel’s team is playing just fine,
so his decision may very well be justified.
