New Chelsea Owner Todd Boehly Meets Cristiano Ronaldo's Agent Amid Man Utd Transfer Exit Talk

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is said to have met Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential transfer swoop for the Portuguese star as he grows disgruntled at the lack of business Manchester United have done so far this summer.

The Red Devils' inactivity so far in this summer transfer window hasn't just frustrated the supporters, who saw the Glazers take another £ 11 million out of the club, but also their star player. Talks with prime target Frenkie de Jong continue to drag on but the length of these discussions has seemingly jeopardised the chances of Erik ten Hag's side landing three Ajax targets in particular.

The current Eredivisie champions have sold three of their biggest hitters already this summer with Sebastian Haller's move to Dortmund the latest and it is understood that it will take significant money for either of Jurrien Timber, Antony and Arsenal target Lisandro Martinez to leave this summer. A big blow for ten Hag whose first summer transfer window isn't going the way many expected it to have so far. It Is understood that Ronaldo, who was disgruntled at parts last season, is weighing up his options as he is feeling underwhelmed at the business conducted so far in Manchester on the incoming side of things.

With 12 months left on his contract and not knowing how long he has left at the top level, the potential of a transfer exit this summer, one year after returning to United, is on the cards with Bayern Munich already turning down this idea. Step up, Chelsea. And The Athletic have reported that new owner Boehly has met with Ronaldo's agent Mendes in Portugal last week to discuss a number of topics. CR7's future was one of the things discussed in this encounter.

Whether or not Chelsea make a move for the player in question remains to be seen but having been offered to Bayern Munich already by his own agent doesn't suggest that the 37-year-old is completely happy with the situation he is in right now. The Blues, who are on the verge of seeing Romelu Lukaku's loan to Inter being confirmed have £200million plus player sales money to spend on revamping the squad in all areas this summer.

Raheem Sterling is understood to be the main attacking target for the current World Champions but this could soon change if the six-times Ballon d'Or winner came up for grabs. His 27 goals in all competitions last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick respectively showcase the fact that he still has it in him to perform at the highest impact. Boehly's popularity would certainly skyrocket if he can pull off what could be one of the most unexpected transfers of all time.
