‘Top Player’ – Chelsea Defender Reece James Hails Arsenal Rival Emile Smith Rowe After England Call-Up

Emile Smith Rowe
has been one of the fast-rising superstars in Arsenal and the English Premier League for two seasons now. He has scored four goals and provided two assists so far this season. His brilliance and scintillating performances have earned his first England senior team call up by Gareth Southgate after Marcus Rashford was withdrawn due to illness.

Recently, Reece James revealed at a media press conference preview ahead of the World Cupqualifiers match against Albania how Emile Smith Rowe came for a trial at Chelseaacademy. ” I’ve always known he’s a top player, he came to Chelsea when he was quite young on trial. I remember playing with him and against him even when he went to Arsenal, so I always knew he was a top player and I think this season he’s shown how good he is and why he’s been selected”.

Emile Smith Rowe also once revealed that he was rejected as a 10-year old at Chelsea’s trial because of his size but Arsenal swung into action and brought him to the Hale End academy. Smith has since then, shown great commitments and hard work despite suffering injury setbacks in recent years. The 21-year old has gone on to prove Chelsea wrong by establishing himself as a first-team regular under Mikel Arteta.

Emile Smith Rowe was the key to Arsenal’sresurgence in their quest to a successful FA Cup triumph in 2020 after beating Chelsea by 2-1 in the finals under the reins of Frank Lampard. He has scored in three consecutive matches for the Gunners against Aston Villa, Leicester City, and Watford. He is currently in the best form of his life and it looks certain that Chelsea will be regretting their actions 11 years ago.

Despite Chelsea having enough midfielders in the team such as Jorginho, Kovacic, Loftus Cheek, Kanté, Kai Harvetz, and Ross Barkley, the truth is not many of them are talented as the youngster. Smith Rowe is one of the few talents who can operate swiftly on the right, left, and central midfield positions. He has great vision and an uncanny ability to travel with the ball which distinguishes him from the rest of the midfielders in the Blues collection. There’s no doubt Smith Rowe would integrate perfectly into Thomas Tuchel’s team and tactical approach.

Visualize Smith Rowe and Mason Mountstarring for the Blues side with Romelu Lukakuupfront, it would have been undoubtedly one of the lethal attacks that could terrorize any defense in the league. His confidence would have provided Tuchel with more options and less worry regarding his team’s attacking prowess. He could have filled in the void during the moment Chelsea was in dire need of creativity after Mason Mount was injured.

With the sort of impact he has had on the Arsenal teamChelsea will be bemoaning their actions of not retaining him then as a teenager. This is the second talent they have lost after Kylian Mbappé was rejected due to his non-defensive abilities when he was eight years old. Emile Smith Rowe could feature for England on Friday against Albania or on Monday against San Marino. The three lions need four points from these games to secure their place in Qatar 2022 World Cup
